His Royal Highness Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, deputy Governor of Makkah Region, attended by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al Al-Sheikh, launched today a number of educational projects with the modern construction system in Jeddah Governorate. His Excellency stressed that these educational projects were completed with the modern construction system within the fast track as a first stage in a record time that did not exceed 50 days, under the wise leadership’s direction and its generous support for education in all parts of the Kingdom, and the continuous attention and follow-up by His Highness, the Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, The Prince of Makkah Region, his deputy, the support of the Jeddah Governorate, and the integration of efforts of both the government and private sectors concerned with the governorate and the efforts of the Ministry.
He pointed out that these projects were implemented according to the latest architectural designs that provide a safe and attractive educational environment for school employees, praising the achievements that are represented in a success story in the responsiveness and dealing with the educational effects of the project to remove and develop slums in Jeddah.
He noted that the Ministry of Education has developed an integrated plan to address the effects resulting from the removal, in terms of integration and cooperation between all government sectors, and the continuous endeavors to provide appropriate alternatives, and quickly, before the beginning of the new school year, to ensure that the educational process for students of those schools does not stop the attendance at the school premises.
Al-Sheikh explained that the ministry’s plan includes 71 school projects, with a total capacity of approximately 50,000 students, noting that 25 projects have been completed, including 272 classrooms, in a number of schools in neighborhoods with a high population density, accommodating more than 8,160 students, in addition to the Implementation of 10 other quick projects, including 282 classrooms, with a capacity of 8,460 male and female students, all of which will be used by the beginning of the new academic year 1444 AH.
And he indicated that the ministry is currently working on implementing 36 school projects with their facilities, including 1080 classrooms, with a capacity of 32,400 students, which will be used at the beginning of the second semester this year, with a completion period of about 4 months, in addition to upcoming educational projects, according to the approved timetables for their implementation.
The Minister of Education noted the attention and generous care of the wise leadership of the education sector, the sound guidance and unlimited generous support, as well as the keenness of His Highness the Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the prince of Makkah, His Highness his deputy, His Highness the Governor of Jeddah, the leaders of government sectors in the region, and all implementing partners from the private sector to accomplish this achievement, and the adaptation for the challenges that faced the implementation of these projects
Afterwards, His Highness the deputy Governor of Makkah region honored the partners from the private sector and the supporters. It is noteworthy that the projects were implemented with the help of Saudi contracting firms and managed by TATWEER Buildings Company owned by the Public Investment Fund.
